1. Extended ground loop consisting only of a horizontal electrode

Enter the required (specified) normalized resistance value of the grounding device «R»

Measure and enter the resistance value of an existing grounding device «Rс»
[Ohm]


Enter the resistivity of the soil «ρ1»
at a depth 0,5-1,0 m


Calculate length «Lг», м of horizontal electrode, sufficient to bring the grounding device to the norm.

Measure and enter the resistance value of an existing grounding device «Rс»
[Ohm]



Enter the resistivity of the top layer of the soil «ρ1»
at a depth 0,5-1,0 m

Enter the equivalent resistivity of the soil «ρ2»
measured (or determined from tables) at a depth of the vertical electrodes «H».
Note. With increasing depth, soil resistivity decreases. The value of «H» is taken from 1.5 to 30 m, a multiply of 1.5 m (the length of «IGUR» grounding rod). The greater the depth, the more efficient the deep grounding electrode is. The optimal depth is assumed to be 20 m.

When the depth of the vertical grounding electrodes is assumed to be "H", the optimal distance between them is L1≥5H. Herewith, the «K» coefficient, which corrects further calculations related to the negative effect of mutual influence of individual vertical electrodes, in this case is taken to be "1". When approaching the vertical electrodes at a distance of 1Н≤L1≤5H, «K» coefficient is taken to be 1.2. When approaching the vertical electrodes at a distance less than the depth of their deposition (0,5Н<L1<H), К=1,4
